Help Deb Carry On After Losing Her Husband Bob

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Amber and I'm fundraising for my mother-in-law Deb Dixon. Deb's best friend and husband of 35 years, Bobby "Bob" Thurman Dixon Jr., passed away unexpectedly Saturday, January 29, 2022. Deb is now just beginning her walk down a long, arduous and winding road. While stunned in their grief and mourning, my husband Christopher and his siblings are coming together to support and care for their mother. Bob's death is a great loss to all of who love him.

Bob was born February 27, 1953, in Gatesville, Texas, to Bobby Sr. and Ruby Dixon. He attended Stephenville High School and married Debra "Deb" Wilson in 1987 and their union blessed him with five children. Bob loved to be with and take care of his many animals. He especially loved his dog, Funny Face. You would see them around town together, and Bob was proud to know everyone and made friends everywhere he went. Most notably, Bob loved his wife and kids. Being married to his best friend for 35 years was Bob's perfect happiness. He loved his family, and when the opportunity to be with his kids and grandkids presented itself, he would jump at the chance. He enjoyed watching their sporting events and school functions, but his favorite was sitting on the floor playing cars and trucks with them.

Deb is now facing life without her best friend and husband and uncertainty in her financial situation. Their life insurance policy expired last year. Deb has lost half of her income (she was on SSI and Bob on SSDI), and the SSI office notified her that she will have a lapse of 1-2 months minimum where she will not receive any income while updated paperwork and benefits are processed. Yet, she will continue to have her monthly bills to cover during this time. She also has funeral expenses and several animals to care for.

As the years have passed, several upkeep/maintenance items around the house have accumulated, and as a result, the house needs extensive repairs and cleaning. Her truck also needs repairs; one required vital repair is replacing the heating element, as her truck currently does not have heat, but Deb cannot afford the repair.

We, the family, can provide assistance in manual labor, but any financial help that can ease the burden that has been placed on Deb’s shoulders would be greatly appreciated.
