Hi, my name is Tenniel, I am a proud Canadian Jamaican who lives in Vaughan, Ontario Canada. I work as a registered social worker and have committed many years of my life to supporting people living with mental health and substance use concerns and fighting for the needs of vulnerable people.

I am fundraising for a lovely family who are close family friends who I have known for many years and who are now reaching out as they are in desperate need after being devastated by the recent hurricane in Jamaica.

How many of us know what it's like to go to bed one night and wake up the next with nothing? That is exactly what my dear friends are going through. Their home is gone, their clothes are gone, their pictures, keepsakes and even food are gone. Worst of all they still do not have access to hydro and many other life sustaining necessities. Some parts of Jamaica are getting support, but there are families like my friend's who are not receiving any support and every day face the realities of trying to find food, shelter, water, internet connection all while prices on the island have become astronomical and out of reach for most families pre-hurricane, let alone during a time when workplaces are shut and access to banks are nearly impossible as many ATM lines are hours long and in some cases days long.

If you are like me and you have been through tough times and you made it because someone cared enough to help, then I ask you to donate. Make a difference in this family's life by showing you care and that you want to help them to get back on their feet and build back better.

Here are how the funds will be spent;

- Repair/rebuild their home; they currently have no roof, windows, doors etc.

- Replace clothing; all of the families clothes have been destroyed, there are 2 children and 2 adults in the family

- Replace household items; they must replace mattresses which are destroyed, pillows, bedding, towels

- Buy furniture and appliances; every items of furniture in the home is destroyed, your donation will assist with buying beds, tables, chairs, a stove, fridge and other vital items

- Buy food and medicine; they have had no electricity for over a week and all food items are spoiled or lost in the storm, monies will assist with buying food and medicine for the family

Any amount will help, but the more you give, the more you will be paid back with love, vibes and karma so please give generously. Also, please share with anyone you know who loves Jamaica, Jamaican music, food, culture and of course the people.
