On 11/15/16 a go fund me account was established to assist Sarah and family cover expenses that were related to on going medical treatment, insurance premiums,and costs related to her traumatic Brain Injury as a result of a domestic violence attack...
Thanks to her friends and after 10 procedures these expenses were paid,and Sarahs will to walk again let alone survive,is alive and never stronger.
Unfortunately we are faced with one last challenge and as a family can not fund it alone.
Sarah has been attending twice a week,two hour sessions at a remarkable Physical Therapy Institute ,Stay in Step in Tampa Bay about an hour from our home. Unfortunately,they are private and do accept insurance.
We started going there in Augest at a discounted rate of $906 per month. We and the staff there have seen remarkable improvement ,and genuine "light at the end of the tunnel"
The State of Floridas Brain and Spinal cord association had authorized two months of support,and extended it through October after the case worker went to her boss and told of the great strides that were being achieved at this "specialized " facility.
Her traditional insurance and medicaid will not cover anything other then "typical physical therapy"which we tried for almost three years...
We are hoping to raise the cost for these twice a week sessions for the next twelve months.
Sarah is finally feeling and believing in a real possibility of walking again if she can stay with the Stay in Step program.While there are no guarantees ,the therapists sincerely believe because there is no paralysis ,Sarah may not only be able to walk again but return to a function of living on her own with Aubrey with some assistance.
Lastly we would use your contribution for the purchase of a customized "tricycle" which immediately would allow her to get off the "recliner",where she spends the majority of her days and go outside and exercise and take rides with her Daughter.
Full disclosure is she receives $1400 a month(social security/disability) and help from the Will Rogers Foundation,which without their help we would be lost!
Her caregiver is here 20 hours a week from 9 am until 2 pm so that I can continue to support our household at Theatre Service Network.
Other then the hours provided by caregiver,I take care of Sarah and Aubrey...
As her Father it is my privilege.I sincerely wish our family could handle this "last " plea for assistance,but it is not in the cards...
Sarahs goal is to "walk" on stage at next Septembers Will Rogers Foundation Pioneer of the year dinner.With your help this goal is within reach.
