My son Ben Johnson needs your help. 

Nearly 5 months ago Ben was in a devastating car accident.  His car plunged over an embankment into Echo Lake here on Vancouver Island.

As a result, he suffered a compound fracture of his left femur (the broken bone pierced out of the skin).
A common fracture of his left tibia.
Two broken vertebrae, but no spinal cord damage, thank heavens.
Broken ankle and wrist.
Large wounds on his head and elbow.

Ben has had 4 orthopedic surgeries in Vancouver General to treat these injuries.  Most of his nearly 5-month stay has been in the Campbell River Hospital.  He is still in a wheelchair, and his leg is not quite stable enough to do the physiotherapy he needs to walk again



After 3 months in the hospital, a small growth on the back of his head started growing rapidly and grew to the size of a softball.

This meant he had to return to Vancouver General to have it removed.

The surgical team did some plastic surgery to repair the hole left by removing the tumor, but say they probably need to do more.

Ben lost everything, because his landlord evicted him while he was in the hospital, so all his wood carving tools are gone, he has no furniture, even his beloved cat Tony was turned out and is certainly lost.

Ben will be released from the hospital soon, and social services say they will put him up in a hotel for 10 days only while he looks for a place to live.

Ben needs help to gather up enough money for a damage deposit, and some household things like a mattress, some pots, and dishes, things like that.
