My name is Mackenzie Johnson and I am the daughter of Brad and Kris Johnson. We are looking for support from our community and have created this fund to aid our family of 3.
On Tuesday, September 15th, Allegiance told our family that my father, Brad, had another stroke. Since he had one in March 2010, he had a higher risk of having more massive strokes and we knew this, so it wasn't rare. But we still didn't understand why he had another stroke since he's a healthy 49 year old man who doesn't drink or smoke. So we went to Dr. Freeman for a second opinion on October 15th, and that's when we found out it was a tumor and he referred us to U of M. That's when the tragic news hit us, on Tuesday, October 27th, he went in for a biopsy and we found out he has two brain tumors that are malignant (cancerous) GBM and inoperable. So he got moved to Ganton's/Countryside to do rehab and get chemotherapy and do radiation at Allegiance. He will also need to be taken care of full time so Kris, my mom, will be taking a leave of absence from work.
Anyone who knows my dad knows what a great guy he is volunteering at the Lions Club, raising money for JDRF, or helping at Vandercook Lake Schools. One experience I had with my dad was when we went to a Hospice Home and trimmed trees, weeded gardens, mulched and so many people were so happy that they could see the gardens from their windows. He always tries to satisfy everyone above himself and cares so much about everyone in the community. Over the years, my dad has also been on the board for YMCA, Jackson Child Care Center and Lily Missionary Baptist Church.
Any support we can get from the community will ease our minds and be greatly appreciated.
WE WILL KICK CANCER'S BUTT!!
