Medical Fund For Surgery
Donation protected
Hey everyone. My name is Nicole and this is my story. I have been married to an amazing person for the last 11 years. He has done everything a man should do for his family and more. He has spent many days and weeks away from home to make sure our kids and myself have what we need or want. His name is Joseph Kroll IV and he is my world.
Unfortunately, because he has worked so hard and has put his welfare on the back burner for so long, he has sustained medical issues. Last year, he had both of his hips replaced due to a birth defect in both hips. Six months ago, he was forced to leave work due to intense, aggravating, inescapable pain in his right leg that has left him on crutches. He could no longer work because of the pain causing him to lose his job and our health insurance. We found out that there are several things wrong with his spine, the lower half to be specific. First, he has pars defect, meaning the facets on the back of the L-5 vertebrae are broken away from the vertebrae below. This has caused his spine to shift 10mm forward off of his pelvis. On top of that, the disc at the L-4 vertebrae has degenerated and is herniated. This herniation is sitting on his right sciatic nerve and is the cause of this never ending pain. The doctor wants to do an Anterior inter body fusion with a cage which means they will go through his stomach to get to his spine and then put rods and screws posterior which means going through his back also to put those in. All of this at the age of 29, when he should be playing with his children and enjoying life.
We have tried everything we can to alleviate the pressure and pain, (i.e. physical therapy, cortizone injections, etc.) and have come to the point where surgery is the only thing that can help put him back together. We have found a doctor and hospital but there is one problem. Our insurance will only cover 50% of the procedure. We have to come up with the other half in order to schedule surgery and proceed. The sooner we can pay it to the hospital, the sooner we can schedule a date. We can not borrow it and we have tried to finance it but none of those are options any longer. I am turning to friends, family, and anyone who is able to help because we don't know where to turn. I know money is tight especially with the approaching holiday and anything is so appreciated that I can’t put into words what this help means. This is the only thing standing in the way of my husband being able to return to work, to his family, and to be himself again.
Anything that can be donated is so very much appreciated by all of us and will help us achieve our goal and proceed with getting his life back. If you can, you are more than welcome to share this info around to any social media site that you think would help.
Thank you all for your kindness, thoughts, gernerosity, and prayers.
