Our son Fionn entered the world far earlier than we ever expected, arriving at just 25 weeks and 5 days. Weighing so little and facing so many challenges-tiny, fragile, and in immediate need of specialist care.
Those early days were filled with uncertainty, fear, and hope in equal measure. But from the very beginning, Fionn was surrounded by an incredible team in the Neonatal Unit at CUMH Cork. The doctors, nurses, and staff became our lifeline. Their expertise, compassion, and unwavering dedication carried not only Fionn, but our whole family, through the most difficult time of our lives.
For 116 days-nearly four months -the NEO was our world. It was where Fionn fought, grew stronger, and reached milestone after milestone. And it was where we witnessed firsthand the extraordinary care that saves the lives of the tiniest babies every single day.
Finally, after four long months, we got to bring our little boy home to his big brothers Sam & Dara, something we will never take for granted. We are so thrilled to say that Fionn is thriving each and everyday since.
Now, we want to give something back.
To show our deep gratitude and to support the incredible work of the NEO, Bob will be taking on the Cork City Marathon and Kathy & a group of friends will be taking on the 10km.
Every step we run is for Fionn, and for all the babies and families who rely on this life-saving unit.
We are raising funds to help ensure that the NEO can continue to provide the highest level of care, support families through unimaginable challenges, and give more babies like Fionn the chance to come home.
If you can, please support our fundraiser-every donation, no matter how small, will make a real difference.
Thank you for helping us turn our gratitude into something meaningful.
