Long story short: Pickle needs surgery.
The long story:
Senior dogs are usually passed over at shelters because of their health issues, appearance, and let’s be honest, it’s hard to think about only having them for a few good years.
Two years ago, we took that chance. We were mourning the untimely loss of our puppy Olive… and then we met a senior dog named Pickle. He was exactly the addition our family needed, a sweet and loving comfort dog, and we are the family he deserved to spend his golden years with.
From the beginning when I adopted Pickle, they told me his “joints slip” in and out of place on his hind legs. But it never impeded his movement much until recently. We noticed him limping earlier this month. I got him X-rays and $2,000 later a specialist told us his right hind leg has a 4/4 grade luxation (dislocation) on his patella (kneecap) and it will not go back in place. His left leg is a 2/4 grade. He also likely has an ACL tear on his right leg which they can fix but will jump the price of surgery from the quoted $4,500 to $6,000.
Matt and I are lucky to have good enough credit that we can open another line of credit to pay for Pickle's surgery. But I am posting this because Matt always tells me not to be too proud to ask for help.
For those of you who love Pickle, Matt, or me, or just have a soft spot for old dogs, if you can help us in paying off this surgery debt, we would be so grateful and we will continue to pay it forward.
