On January 29th our lives completely fell apart when my husband the heart of our home and the father of our three children was unlawfully detained by ICE. As many of you all did or didn’t know my husband has been a DACA recipient since the programs first inception in 2012. He has always followed every step and renewed his daca on a timely matter and has always showed up to any appt that has been set. He was taken under the false claim that his status had expired & also due to him recently renewing. Although his daca did expire 2 weeks after 01/29 , he showed them proof of renewal receipt submitted on time and his current Daca card with an active date . Unfortunately These ICE police didn’t care about my husband’s protection with Daca . They took him in and processed him and was transferred Friday late night to Laredo detention center . During this process my husband was not granted one phone call and was kept in arm and leg shackles for nearly 20 hours while being transported to diffrent facility’s where he was not given food or water throughout that day . My husband is not a criminal , he is a devoted provider who has always given his best for his family. My children are now so heartbroken and confused as to why their daddy didn’t come home that night. Now we see him behind a glass window and it’s so difficult for my children to not be able to run and hug their daddy who they are so attached to. As our sole provider, his absence has left us in a desperate financial crisis, struggling to balance basic bills & attorney fees. I work part-time because I don’t have childcare, and my paycheck barely covers our monthly rent. Now, I have to spend three hours each way traveling to visit my husband, which means I have to pay for food and snacks for my children during the drive. Additionally, I now have to deposit my husband’s money to make phone and video calls, as well as for him to be able to order basic necessities at the facility. I’m asking for any help you can provide, whether you know us or not, to help us fight this injustice. We just want him home and our family reunited. Any donations are greatly appreciated.
