Displacement Due To House Fire.
Donation protected
June 23 at 2:20 AM is a moment in my life I thought I would never experience; a horrible house fire was the furthest from my mind. Me and my family are now displaced due to this horrible house fire. My sister, 17-year-old Madison, my father, 57-year-old Cleon, my mother, 43-year-old Alicia, and myself, 20-year-old DeShawn, are all incredibly lucky to have walked away unharmed. But to sit back and watch the place you called home be engulfed by flames, all the things that you held dearly taken away, as I sat back and watched as my pets were sadly trapped, there was nothing I could do but cry.
We were renters, and my mother had been dealing with a landlord who had no interest in being a landlord. He always wanted rent but never fixed problems that my mother reported to him—true “slumlord.” Our biggest concern was electrical issues that we told the landlord about. He would come and put a “Band-Aid” over the situation instead of a permanent fix. And now here we are, displaced and looking for all the help we can get. We have reached out to multiple nonprofits. We appreciate any help at all. We can’t want everything when we have nothing except our lives. But now it’s time to rebuild our life. (All donations go to a new home and utilities). Thank you!
