Hello! My name is Andrea and I am looking to raise funds for my brother James and his family. Unfortunately, my brother suffered a stroke on April 2nd. This stroke was brought on by an unknown congenital heart defect. As it turns out, he has PFO; also known as a Patent Foramen Ovale. This is a hole that forms between the two upper heart chambers. Typically, this hole closes shortly after a baby is born, but for some, this hole can remain open. In my brother’s case, a small blood clot passed through this hole and traveled to his brain, which in turn, caused a stroke. My brother is only 37. This stroke falls on the coattails of a year long absence from work due to a shoulder surgery. He is facing heart surgery and a recovery period of 6-8 months.
