My name is Alivia Gatewood and on 9/28/22 Hurricane Ian made landfall in Southwest Florida devastating many cities, including my hometown of Cape Coral. My parents, Alecia and Marc (60 and 66) and my brother were all residing at the home when this Category 4 (almost 5) Hurricane pummeled their home by flooding it with a foot of water, ripping off parts of the roofs, destroying their car, taking down trees, leaving power lines laying on their home, and ruining things they hold dear. They were informed their renter's insurance will not cover what is lost in floods and the timeline of FEMA assistance is unknown as so many people have suffered due to this disaster. My mother is on disability, and my father is on SSI.
After 12 years in that home, and 30 years in Cape Coral, my parents will need to leave and start to rebuild. Anyone who knows my family knows they would help anyone who needed it, even if that meant giving them the shirt off their own back. So, please consider assisting my family as they work towards finding a new home and vehicle. If you are unable (times are considerably tough), please consider sharing this to help them out!
I will upload photos of what the situation looks like at their house now once my family has enough reception to send them. For now, enjoy some photos of the happiness before.
Thank you.
