This go fund me is to help fulfill a dream of my son, Lucas Van Sprange, to help the medical needs of the people of Guatemala. Lucas passed away on January 16, 2015. You can read more about his story on www.livelikelucas.com. He was a kind and compassionate young man who always put others ahead of himself. He dreamed of being a physician.
Lucas visited Guatamala on a mission trip in July of 2014 with Georgetown CRC of Hudsonville. They were hosted by an organization called Grace ministries www.aglimpseofgrace.com which hosts churches 38 weeks out of the year to do mission work.
There is a great need for medical care in the area where Grace Ministries has a mission house, Chimaltenango, and many other outlying villages. There are simply no hospitals, no clinics, no doctors; nothing. When my son visited there was a two year old girl with a large gash on her hand that was incredibly infected. No one could do anything about it. Thankfully there was a nurse on their team who was able to secure antibiotics for her.
A group of doctors from Holland, including Dr. Rich Strabbing, have had a dream since visiting Chimaltenango of not only building a medical clinic but a medical van. That way they can go out equipped with all their supplies and an exam room right within the van so that they can provide medical care.
A medical van was built already to be used in Haiti by Calvary church in Holland so they have a template to follow. Here is a video of the making of the van:

Please help us in making the Live Like Lucas medical van a reality. In one small way it helps keep the legacy alive of a young man who wanted to help others, but in a large way also will help ease the suffering of thousands of Guatemalans.
