Hi and thank you for taking the time to hear my story!
After two years of living with a lump in the roof of my mouth, I found out there was more to it... it was a malignant tumor... yes, cancer. I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, which only 1% of head and neck cancer patients are diagnosed with... Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma.
On October 13, 2025, at 8 am, I received a call that changed my life and set me on a path to recovery ❤️. The next month was filled with doctor's appointments, X-rays, scans, bloodwork, and meetings with the tumor board to discuss the process of removal and post-op procedures.
The tumor/cancer and the molars on the right side of my mouth were removed; however, the real healing is just getting started. My prosthetic (the yellow device) is currently being modified as I heal to allow me to eat and talk. Eventually, I'll have a final device that will mimic my missing teeth, but this is a permanent change. I'm currently undergoing radiation treatments—30 sessions, 5 days a week for 6 weeks—and yes, it's affecting my ability to work.
As a makeup artist, it can be physically and mentally demanding. With radiation, each day is different; some days talking is difficult, some days I'm just tired.
My goal is to get help financially since working isn't an option. I've been blessed to have people encourage, pray, and support me thus far. By God’s grace I’ve had support from loved ones, however I have medical bills, personal bills and medications to take. Not be able to work and contribute to the household is taxing.
If my story impacts you, please give whatever is on your heart. I honestly have no goal (the app suggested $14,000, so I rounded up). Whatever is given, I'm truly grateful for.
PS. If you know someone with a rare cancer, please share my story and let them know they aren't alone! I'd like to pray for them! My IG is @kfreestyles, send me their name!
Thank you and God bless you all!
