Lily's Fight for Life

Hello All.

Lily, Liz Nargi's little girl is fighting for her life right now in ICU. Many of you already know, but for those that don't, Lily was adopted by Liz and is 13 years old. She's been battling a condition known as EPI for almost her whole life, a condition that most can't survive. And even though this condition alone is life-threatening, right now the doctors aren't even sure how much the EPI is playing a role in Lily's critical state.

Lily was becoming lethargic and had elevated liver enzymes at her vet's testing. An ultrasound was ordered, but here in NY there is a wait for those. As days went on Lily stopped eating so Mama Liz had to rush her to the ER for care and the urgently needed tests.

After almost every diagnostic available all they know so far is she is severely anemic, has fluid in the abdomen, theatening liver issues (but no mass was found on ultrasound), and a gastric ulcer. They also discovered pronounced cardiac issues, which a follow up with the cardiologist is in order. Lily's illness is still a mystery, and the danger is still mounting.

Mama Liz has for years opened her home, heart, and purse to any and every hospice dog that needed her, unadoptable, behaviorally challenged dogs to keep them out of the shelter, and any dog that had a physical disability often being overlooked in adoption. She's never used the word "no". She has simply helped them all.

Now we need to rally around her and Lily, and together show them that their community is here for them and that all the love Liz poured into the countless four leggeds that have made her home their forever, will make it's way back and pull Lily through.

Because...you know...this is what family does.

This is a hard and crazy world right now. You gotta find your family and stick close. For those that have ever really truly loved a rescue dog, those that care for these dogs, become family.
