Joel "Chata" Rivera became ill a week or so ago with multiple issues. He was sick with a cold that seemed to turn to pnemonia and had gone undetected for several months. If you know Chata you would understand he is a very fast paced, high energy person. He just never stopped and due to this he developed other issues that have taken a severe toll on his health. Chata has been on his own since he was 14. This young man has raised himself and has done an excellent job. I have always been very proud of his work, commitment to friends and his loyalty to Nosara. I am not one to beg but I am now , PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE! He is in a coma with several tubes helping him breathe, eat and pump medication 24/7. I am very concerned as to what happens when he does get to come back to Nosara. He will need 24 hour care and will of course need food and medication that is very costly especially in our small jungle town. PLEASE, even if you do not know Chata please know this....He is a very special person to me, my family and the entire Nosara community.
