After a few months of acting funny, we discovered that Gus has a large tumor in his duodenum, part of the small intestine. It is protruding so much that it’s created a partial blockage, and the resulting inflammation has given him acute pancreatitis. It is likely cancerous. An expert team of surgeons and diagnostic veteranarians are weighing emergency surgery to cut out the section of his intestine which contains the mass or serious long term chemotherapy if it is inoperable. Either way, the prognosis requires extensive treatment if we have a chance at saving him.
Gus is only ten, but he’s full of life, energy and exuberance. He’s got a whole decade left in him- to know my future children and move to at least a few more houses. This is a crazy expensive and risky surgery, but I’m not yet ready to say goodbye to my first child and the love of my life.
Anything you can give helps. Thank you for loving Gus <3
