Brittany's Journey

This is about our precious daughter Brittany Karl and mother of Haven Rose Marie Karl. Up until a few months a go she was a vibrant, healthy, outgoing young woman with nothing but her future to focus on. It started with migraines and pain in her neck and back and for months she dealt with it. Since then an MRI was done and she has been diagnosed with Chiari I Malformation and her world has been turned upside down. Chiari is when your brain is to large for your skull and covers the spinal cord which doesn't allow fluid to get to the brain. She is steadily losing feeling in her right side of her body and has no reflex at all on that side. Some vision loss along with debilitating pain, on some days she can not even function. She was referred to a specialist in Houston who specializes in this disease and is currenty making trips to figure out next step. She has medical insurance but is still faced with things that insurance will not cover. These things include a large deductible, copays, diagnostics, trips back and forth to Houston, missed time from work, and last week had to cancel appointment due to financial strain.
