On the 20th September, Stephen Clark , Reuben Gill and Peter Dugdale are taking on the national 3 peaks challenge in 24 hours to raise money for Manchester Children’s hospital. We will be starting at Ben Nevis in Scotland then our driver Tony will take us to Scafell Pike in England before ending the challenge with Snowdon in wales , hopefully in under 24 hours .

Why we’re doing it -

In October 2007, when Nathaniel (Stephen’s son) was just 5 years old, he suffered a devastating fall of 15 feet. He was rushed to Pendlebury Children’s Hospital with a broken neck and an extra subdural haematoma. After six hours of surgery, he spent two days on life support before beginning a long road to recovery.

His journey didn’t end there. Nathaniel spent time on the neurology ward and was discharged after a week, but his childhood was shaped by ongoing challenges — frequent absences from school due to facial swellings and medical complications.

When Pendlebury closed, his care was transferred to Manchester Children’s Hospital. There, Nathaniel was admitted numerous times with pressure on his brain and suspected epilepsy. Manchester Children’s provided exceptional care, especially when he underwent surgery to fit an intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring device — becoming only the second child in the country ever to have one.

Now, nearly 23 years old, Nathaniel continues to inspire us with his strength and resilience. On 6th October 2025, it will be the 18th anniversary of his accident, and we want to mark the milestone by giving back to the hospital that gave us so much hope.

Manchester Children’s Hospital truly made the difference between despair and recovery, and we are raising funds to support their incredible work so that other families can receive the same lifesaving care.
