And in this corner we have... APRIL MARTINEZ. Beware folks, this one's 5' 3" and feisty. She loves her business of remodeling homes with her Husband Marcus (A.K.A. Monk) and listening to Taylor Swift in her down time. Unfortunately, my family just discovered that her opponent is none other than the nefarious villain itself, Breast Cancer.
My mom was diagnosed literally 3 days ago on the 26th of May 2020. She doesn't let me in on much, but what I've gathered through the walls of the house is that she was diagnosed with Invasive Duct Cell Carcinoma (Grade 3 of 3), which is cancer that has metastasized from her milk duct to the outside fatty tissue of her breast. Secondly, a Left Axilla Lymph Node (node in armpit) was positive with Metastatic Duct Cell Carcinoma as well. My mom's cancer is aggressive but treatable.
Hospital bills are already piling up. To make matters increasingly discouraging, COVID-19 has made this endeavor especially challenging. My parents are usually self-employed home remodelers under their business name of Martinez Painting, Drywall, & Handyman Services. Lockdown regulations have basically discontinued their work for the time being and ceased a flow of income to our working class family. Currently, I will be starting work for St. Edward's University's Student Orientation this June. The money I accumulate will go towards helping my mom and dad with bills, food, & GRE prepping for my Graduate School Applications this Fall. I am currently a Graduating Senior this school year at the University.
Not only has this pandemic impacted our income it has also made us skeptical of who is allowed around my mother. At this time, we have to be cautious of family members, longtime friends, and business opportunities because my mom's immune system must be in tip top shape. Any illness contracted has the potential to be a tremendous hindrance to her ability to Fight.
The first week of June 2020, she is going to have her Chemo Port surgically implanted to begin treatment ASAP for the next 4-6 months.
Donations to our families cause are Greatly Appreciated. We understand this Pandemic is crippling to our supporters and may put you in a disadvantage for donations, but you can help in other ways. Even sharing this page to your families & friends is an enormous contribution and is of equal importance. Your prayers are always received and are the everlasting foundation of this movement. Without your prayers everything else is meaningless. Through prayer may we network and empower those around us. May we unite and make our love noticed by God.
P.S. to all our contributors we ask that you please leave some form of contact, so that when my Mom kicks this Cancer's ass we can show our appreciation to the support you all have so generously portrayed.
