Melissa‘s Fight with Cancer

This fundraiser is to support our dear friend and loving mom Melissa Van Eyslend with her battle against a rare cancer. Melissa is a loving mom to her three children Ali (turning 6 this August), PJ and Leo (turned 5 yrs old in July), wife to Peter, daughter, sister, coworker and friend that touches the hearts of everyone she meets.  

Melissa Van Eyslend posted on her FB page in March of 2020 that she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Her and her husband Peter, along with their three children Ally, Leo and PJ (all 5yrs old), have been going through some tough times these last couple of months. Everyday there are many struggles that we don’t see.  Peter Van Eyslend has taken on a role that not many could handle but he is doing his very best to be there for his family. Watching his wife’s health deteriorate slowly has certainly not been easy for him, all while still playing super Dad and caring for their 3 young children.


On May 27 Melissa’s oncologist sadly informed her that the cancer was not responding well to treatments including chemo, as it is a rare type of cancer  (1% cancer - metastatic high grade large cell neurone carcinoma). There are no conventional options for her at this point and she has now been moved into a palliative care facility in Abbotsford BC.There are some non- conventional steps with naturopathic IV therapy that she had attempted for the past several weeks. The costs had taken a huge hit for them as they were approx $1200+ per week for daily therapies. Which has been hard to do as Peter is currently on compassionate leave from work to help her and to care for their three children.


We are asking family, friends, coworkers, and anyone who can, to help us collect as many funds as possible to help make this struggle a little easier for the Van Eyslend family.  Please consider helping out with Melissa's fight against her rare cancer, and to help her family as they navigate this tragedy and attempt to move forward in life. Donations will go directly to Melissa's husband, Peter and their 3 kids, Ali, PJ and Leo.
