Hi, my name is Nina and I’m asking for help to raise funds for Benji’s vet bill.

It was a normal Sunday afternoon and everything was fine until my dog stopped in his tracks and couldn’t breathe. We rushed him to the vet to be told his heart rate was at 180, his pale and bleeding internally to be then told he needs emergency surgery right now. His spleen had ruptured causing internal bleeding and they had to remove it. (3kg of it!) A very risky operation and with a heart murmur too he has a 50/50 chance. Our hearts sunk and tears flowed thinking we were saying our goodbyes there and then. Without hesitation we allowed them to take him straight through to theatre as who wouldn’t want to save their family pet.

After losing a lot of blood they carried out a blood transfusion and as blood count was down to 15.

He is slowly recovering and still not wanting to eat from the vets so I go there every night after work to hand feed him some chicken to try and get some energy back into him.

with all this said comes a hefty vet bill of $8000 that I have to pay. It is all worth it to save our dog that is a huge part of the family but also at a time that I’m struggling to pay home bills too.

I would like to ask to please help me pay my vet bill and help with his ongoing care as he is still not in the clear as his spleen has been sent away for testing for cancer. His blood count is dropping again and I am absolutely lost without him being home with me.

I want to bring him home.

Anything will help and be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE:

On the 1st of July Benji grew his wings and left us. He fought right to the end and was a very strong boy. He will be sadly missed and home is not the same.
