On August 9th of this year I received a phone call about my brother Johnny. He was being sent to the hospital because of a toe infection that he had been suffering with for a few years. Johnny was born with Cerebral Palsy and Brain Damage so he has always been mentally and physically challenged. He ended up having emergency surgery for amputation. They had to take his leg just above the knee. He is now in a nursing home because he needs 24 hr care.

4 days after we, mom and I, got him settled, she had a heart attack and ended up having a double bypass. She has had complications because she lives in California but came to Texas for my brothers surgery and no rehab facility takes her insurance. She developed fluid on her lungs and was declining fast. I got her back to the hospital and they drained a liter and half from just the right lung. We are currently waiting to see if maybe, just maybe, Encompass rehab can except her until I can get her back to California where she can get all and any treatment she needs. I have not worked since the beginning of August because I’m the only one available to take care of them and everything else. My mom’s partner has already been out A LOT of money since all this started and I don’t really want to ask her for more. My funds are now exhausted. I am asking for some help from anyone that finds it in their heart to do so. I have managed to stay on top of the bills and have had plenty to eat. However, as of today I have nothing left and neither does mom. I can’t leave my mom and go work because of fear something will happen and she just needs someone there with her right now. She is still very very weak.

This has been a rough road but we’re still hanging in there. In the mean time, someone ripped the door off my camper, which was my home, and stole my refrigerator, all my brothers clothes and some of my things. The power cord has been cut off and taken and they cut my battery cables and took my backup batteries. I am now basically homeless. I do have a couch I can sleep on but it’s not the same as having your own place. I live out of trash bags and my car at the moment.

I know we will get through this but I just need a little extra help right now. Please, even if it’s just a dollar or even .50, it’s extremely needed and very much appreciated.

update: I am currently in Paris Regional. I had a spot under my right arm that felt like a pimple coming on. I was focused on mom and didn’t pay attention until it got bad. And my insurance lapsed August 1. They are saying it’s cellulitis and finally after two weeks they are going to open it up and get all the poison out. It has now been 4 months since I was able to work. I am asking for more help. We are trying to get mom home as soon as possible and I will drive to California when I can. I will stay there with mom as long as I can.

Fingers crossed this is the last update.

Mom got out of rehab and I got out of the hospital on Thursday of last week. Mom was still way too weak to get on an airplane so Sharon got mom and I a room at a motel here in Paris for a week so we could rest and mom could get stronger.

Today is Tuesday and mom and I are planning on leaving here on Thursday, in 2 days, to head to California. We are not going to be in a hurry and it may take us a week to get there but, good Lord willing, we will get there. I will be relocating from here to there so I can be closer to mom while she recovers from her heart surgery.

I am asking for donations one last time to help pay for the gas, food, and motels as we go along. We have some money but I know this is going to be a very expensive trip, everything is expensive now.

If anyone can help please do. If you can’t help, at the very least you can hit that share button. Somebody down the line may be able to help.
