Hi! my name is Emmi, I am 18 and I have a 4 1/2 month-old puppy named Forrest. He is a Golden Pyrenees in southern California and loves humans, toys, food, and other dogs. Forrest is an adventurer and loves exploring but he wandered off the property last night and nobody knows quite what happened while he was out, camera footage didn't show much but we're guessing he got into some sort of altercation with another animal (see update below). He has a great spirit and is very resilient but his right leg is broken and his teeth are fractured. I cannot personally afford the surgery he needs on my own but I am trying to do everything I can, He will need a full blood panel in order to perform an FAO surgery as soon as possible! I will do anything I can to help my best friend.
UPDATE: We have great news and devastating news, the great news is that Forrest will be getting surgery today and he is predicted to make a full recovery! The bad news is we now know that the cause of Forrest's injuries was the result of abuse from someone he trusted and loved. I am so heartbroken and at a loss for words but the abuser is in custody and animal control is keeping close watch on Forrest and will make sure we are safe from this point on. Right now this is a lot for our family to process and I will update you as soon as possible. Thank you so much for helping me and it means so much to me how many people care about our baby Forrest!
UPDATE 3/21/23: I have Forrest and we are trying our best to stay strong, I'm so proud of him for being so resilient and i'm so grateful that we have so much support. The abuser’s family is refusing any of Forrest’s medical costs. I've had to quit my job, relocate back home and my family has been helping me so much. I am going to try my best to successfully finish out this semester of college. Although any extra money helps so much, Anyone that would like their donations back can request.
UPDATE: I was not able to finish my semester at college due to my dog being completely dependent on me for carrying him outside to pee, cleaning his wound, keeping him sedated and on pain killers, and trying to get myself together. The abuser is my Ex boyfriend Jacob Taylor who now lives in Corona, CA (beware). I thought that our dog had been hit by a car and asked our landlord (my best friends mom) to check the camera footage after we took Forrest to the vet and found out how severe his injuries were. That is how our landlord found everything. My ex is a sociopath and before this event, he showed absolutely no signs of violence, abuse, or even anger ever. Jacob lied and said that Forrest escaped the property that day and that he had no idea what happened while Forrest was gone. Vets, animal control, and police say that my dog should be dead due to the damage done (a broken femur bone with crumbled cartilage, sever head trauma, absolutely no front teeth, right arm injured) my dog endured about 6-8 separate beatings from Jacob while I was at work for a 6 hour period. I found out when coming home from work to 6 cop cars at our house and about 15 people surrounding the property. My best friends mom had been up all night sick from the footage that she found on the cameras and the bloody clothes she found in the garbage bins. The person I thought I knew was a complete stranger and monster. He pleaded NOT guilty, tried to fight the restraining order that I filed for myself, tried to dispute the restitution money that was court ordered after the judge read the story, looked over evidence, and went over our expenses due to this event. Jacob was court ordered to pay my family $18,000 from damages (surgery, not paying his half of rent, caretaking supplies for Forrest after the accident, physical therapy, me having to leave school and move). Jacob also did not show up for court on 2 separate occasions. His grandfather even asked for the money back that he had previously donated to gofundme before he knew his grandson was the reason that Forrest was half dead. Jacobs dad also said he would help with some medical expense and then blocked my mom as we were on the way to pick Forrest up from the shelter after his surgery, after I had just won Forrest back from the court due to them not knowing if I was an animal abuser as well. Jacob quickly moved home, got a job at a bowling alley, moved back in with his parents/bestfriend. His family adopted a 3rd dog even though he was legally supposed to stay away from all animals, he got a new girlfriend less than 6 months later. This individual is a sociopath and has no empathy or dignity. On the other hand,
My life has changed so much since this event and I would have unknowingly been with him, married him and had his children and I am so grateful that things didn’t turn out that way because of the support system I have. Although him and his whole family have shown absolutely no remorse and I think this individual will gradually increase his prey and is absolutely dangerous and unpredictable. I went back to school about 8 months after this occurred, still in hopes of becoming a midwife nurse, I got a job at a gym and bikini shop, started working out a lot, doing Art and ceramics again and I am with Forrest every single day. I can assure everyone that he is so happy. His adult teeth grew in, thankfully there wasn’t too much damage done to his gums and his leg miraculously healed after being told we would 90% have to amputate it due to the severe damage to his muscles, cartilage, bone, nerves, and joints even after the surgery. Forrest went to the best team of veterinary surgical specialists and I started praying for the first time in my life during this time. I am eternally grateful for the outcome of this horrific situation and the money donated here helped me so much. There’s updates that I post almost daily to Forrest’s Instagram just about his life and daily adventures @ _goldenforrest_ . The extra details are much too sinister to share on here but this is a short summary of how I found out and what happened♥️
