Blackies Bucket List-(A.L.S. 2014)

Hi my name is Heather. My step-dad was diagnosed with Bulbars palsy A.L.S back in Nov. 2014. This is a rapidly progressing disease. It presented itself by attacking the muscles in his neck area. His family doctor thought he may have had a stroke or was going to. After several tests and neurosurgeon appointments he was diagnosed with A.L.S. He was told he had 1-3 years. The doctor told him to have fun and make memories!
This is such a sad disease. Watching him progress so fast is devastating. He has a hard time swallowing and his speech is slowed. My mom is holding up well. Their are moments where she will break down. We all try to be strong for him and for her.
He will be getting a bipap machine soon to help him breathe better at night while he sleeps. He goes to a A.L.S clinic every month. Of course with the tremors he gets he cannot work anymore. I really appreciate your time reading this. I hope one day they can find a cure for this awful disease.
