Sarah has been diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer. This has been a huge shock to all her family and friends, and we are all surprised that at the young age of 31 she is fighting this battle. She will begin chemotherapy in the next 2 weeks for roughly 4-6 months, which will then be followed by a radical double mastectomy and lymph node removal, and finally, radiation treatments. At this time, her tests and treaments will be performed by UCSF Medical Center in San Francisco.
Sarah is very fortunate to have such a great support team- from family and friends to the best oncology team in the country at UCSF , and we're all very confident that she couldn't be in better hands to help her through these difficult times.
Sarah married her husband, Jason, last december. She has two sons, Ronin (6 years old) and Ethan (5 months old), and has been in the process of adopting another son, Blake (2 years old).
In December 2013, Sarah achieved one of her goals: to graduate from Kaplan College. Two months ago, she achieved her second goal: to be employeed at UCSF as a Respiratory Practitioner. She now has an unexpected, but achievable, goal- to fight this cancer. Ultimately, she hopes to continue spending precious time with her husband, children, and loved ones, return to the job she loves at UCSF to help others, and to end the silence of Inflammatory Breast Cancer.
We want to take this opportunity to encourage ALL women of ALL ages to take control of their health, get checked, educate themselves on the signs of breast cancer, especially this one in particular. We hope you will take the time to research, "Infammatory Breast Cancer",
And lastly, we want to say thank you for all the positive thoughts and prayers. We are so grateful for all the love and support through this arduous and challenging course in life. We couldn't do this without you all.
