Honduras Dental Mission Trip
Donation protected
Hello Everyone!
As many of you know I have been a student at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry for the past 3 years and will be starting my final year in just over a month. It's been an absolute whirlwind the past few years, I've had some incredible experiences, and I've absolutely fallen in love with Dentistry, and especially Pediatric Dentistry. Providing an environment where an individual, regardless of age, race, sex, level of education, or financial means, can receive high quality dental treatment while also feeling comfortable, relaxed, and satisfied is what I aim to accomplish for every single one of my patients.
Recently, I was given an awesome opportunity to use the skills and knowledge I have gained in Dental School to bring dental care to those less fortunate. I was one of 5 students selected from the University of Maryland to go to Honduras for 10 days in June to set up a medical/dental clinic and provide crucial services for those in need. The group I will be traveling with is composed of both medical professionals and non-medical professionals from a broad range of backgrounds, all committed to helping individuals gain access to the care they need.
The trip is not paid for by my school, and unfortunately I don't think my mountain of student debt is going to be able to cover this one. The funds I am requesting will go towards airfare, the dental equipment I will be bringing with me, food/water for the trip, and the facility I will be bunking in along with the 50 or so other mission workers. Any small donation helps and will be very much appreciated!!!
Being selected for this trip means the world to me because it is exactly why I got into dentistry in the first place. Providing care to those in my home community as well as to those across the world who can't access care is something that I've been passionate about ever since I first started volunteering at Community Volunteers in Medicine in West Chester in their dental clinic, and something that I hope to make an integral part of my future dental practice. By helping me go on this trip, you will have a hand in bringing dental care to those who need it, many of whom have chronic pain, have trouble speaking, and even have difficulty eating. So thank you, both from myself and from the patients I will be helping in Honduras!
Sincerely,
Aidan
