After the 6.9 earthquake hit Lombok and it's surrounding islands in Indonesia on 5th & 19th & 25th Aug 2018, the death toll risen to 555 people. 352, 793 people are left homeless. The entire village in Bayan (home to the indigenous people in Lombok who have been living the same way for 5000 years) is completely wiped out! All the houses and buildings collapsed, including the primary school we used to teach voluntarily. Many people we know now lost their loved ones and homes. There are no electricity in the entire island now. Lisa Schafer (from Germany) and I Lina Liu (a Malaysian born Londoner) have spent a week in North Lombok doing voluntary teaching in Bayan and Batu Cangku in April 2017. We are both currently living in Europe, our hearts go to the earthquake victims in Lombok. We are raising funds to help them. Government aids have not arrived due to broken bridges and fallen trees. The villagers are forced to move to open lands to set up temporary accommodations. They urgently need money to buy tents, sleeping mats, blankets, medicines, food, water, baby diapers and generators. We are liaising with the local coordinator Maman Clasik, he is currently working with 15 local volunteers, they named themselves Canvas Peduli, they have been distributing logistics to the locals. We have been sending updates everyday. Your donations are highly needed and appreciated, your coffee/ lunch/ beer money means a lot to these humble people to start their new life. This is a challenging time for them, any amount will make a difference in their lives. Thank you! You can also donate via PayPal: [email redacted]
