Help Me Pay For My Top Surgery
Donation protected
Hi!
My name is Wesley Nay, and I’m a 20 year-old trans man. I am a Vietnamese-American immigrant and my parents are nail technicians who do not have any health benefits. I have always struggled with my gender and my identity, and after coming out as trans masculine in 2017 I have felt so much happier with who I am.
This June I will be undergoing a gender affirmation surgery, specifically chest masculinization to remove breast tissue. I am undergoing this surgery because right now I have to wear a chest binder in order to compress my chest to make myself appear more masculine. The binder makes my chest and back hurt, and it makes it very hard to breathe at times. It is very uncomfortable, especially when the weather is warmer. This surgery would help me to finally feel comfortable and free in my own skin. It would be the greatest validation to finally look at my body and see who I’ve always wanted to see.
I will be paying the full $7,600 completely out of pocket from money my partner and I have saved up from working for three years. This covers consultation fees, hospital fees, and the surgical fees.
My family is working class and can’t afford to support this surgery financially. As a matter of fact, they are completely unaware that I will be going through this because they have yet to accept my transition. I gave up going to my dream university and spending my freshman year in Italy due to financial reasons. Instead, I took classes at my local community college while working 20-40 hours during the school year and my summers.
My payment is due in full on June 10th, and I don’t expect to receive much money if any at all. I just wanted to ask for any help whatsoever from anyone who can afford to lend a hand. 1 dollar, 5 dollars, or however much. It doesn’t matter. It is all so helpful to me. Thank you!
