Hola! Mi nombre es Estefanía Rasse, tengo 34 años y vivo en Caracas, Venezuela. El día 14 de Enero de 2025 diagnosticaron a mi hijo varón Ignacio André (Nacho) con Leucemia Linfoblástica Aguda (LLA), un cáncer de la sangre y la médula ósea que se caracteriza por la producción excesiva de linfocitos inmaduros.

Todo empezó en nuestras vacaciones de navidad cuando Ignacio comenzó a presentar pequeños episodios de fiebre que no duraban más dos días, por lo cual pensábamos que era una virosis común. Luego el día 28 de Diciembre mientras disfrutaba de un día de pisicina, accidentalmente se cortó el pie, herida que notamos que no cicatrizaba bien y que a pesar de que el ya no presentaba más fiebre, lo empezamos a notar muy pálido.

Recurrimos a hacerle unos exámenes de Laboratorio (perfil 20 espeficícamente) para ver que podía estar pasando. Los resultados arrojados fueron alarmantes ya que Ignacio tenía todos los valores de su sangre alterados. Lo tuvimos que hospitalizar por urgencias ya que necesitaba transfusiones de sangre y de plaquetas. Al día siguiente los especialistas toman la decición de realizarle una Punción Lumbar de Médula Ósea, que es un procedimiento que se utiliza para obtener una muestra del líquido cefalorraquídeo para poder llegar a un diagnostico especifico relacionado a la Neutropenia severa, Anemia y Trombocitopenia que se veía reflejada en los exámenes de labotatorio.

Al día siguiente nos dan un diágnostico que ningún padre quiere escuchar, y que Ignacio debía empezar un tratamiento de quimioterapia cuanto antes para poder lograr estabilizarlo. Posteriormente es sometido a una cirugía de alto riesgo para que le colocarán un Catéter Venoso Central (Catéter Port 9) que fue introducido en una vena en el pecho que va hasta al lado derecho del corazón, y es utilizado para la administracion de los fármacos correspondientes a la quimioterapia y a la toma de muestras de sangre, ya que nos toca un camino 2 años de tratamiento y de esta manera se evita la toma y daño de las vías periféricas (brazitos y piernas).

Ignacio es conocido como un niño feliz y de buena actitud, caracteristicas que lo ayudaron a superar esta primera etapa tan difícil de la enfermedad de manera exitosa, siempre con una sonrisa!

Ahora nos quedan 22 meses de quimioterapia, y lamentablemente los medicamentos en Venezuela tienen un muy alto costo, por lo cual recurrimos a solicitar esta ayuda. Ignacio tiene un papá y una mamá que lucharán con el hasta el final, pero sobretodo tiene a su hermanita menor y mejor amiga Amanda (de 2 años) que espera con ansias que su hermano mayor se cure para seguir creciendo juntos y creando los mejores recuerdos.

Actualmente Ignacio se encuentra hospitalizado desde el miércoles 26 de febrero debido a una fuerte descompensación de los valores en sangre posterior al nuevo ciclo de Quimioterapia, sumando que empezó a presentar una hemorragia intestinal. Lo empezaron a estabilizar con transfusiones y medicamentos pero la madrugada del domingo 2 de marzo Ignacio presentó una insuficiencia respiratoria y episodios convulsivos por lo que debemos hacer más exámenes a ver si existe una hemorragia en la parte del craneo e ingresarlo a cuidados intensivos para que sea intubado.

Hello! My name is Estefanía Rasse, I am 34 years old and I live in Caracas, Venezuela. On January 14, 2025, my son, Ignacio André (Nacho), was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), a cancer of the blood and bone marrow that is characterized by the excessive production of immature lymphocytes.

It all started during our Christmas break when Ignacio began to have small episodes of fever that did not last more than two days, which is why we thought it was a regular virus. Then, on December 28, while he was enjoying a day at the pool, he accidentally cut his foot, a wound that we noticed was not healing well and even though he no longer was running a fever, we began to notice that he was very pale.

We resorted to doing some Laboratory tests (more specifically a CMP) to see what could be happening. The results obtained at the time were alarming since all his blood values were ​​altered. We took Ignacio to the ER and he had to be hospitalized because he needed blood and platelet transfusions. The following day the doctors made the decision to perform a Lumbar Bone Marrow Puncture, which is a procedure used to obtain a sample of cerebrospinal fluid in order to reach a specific diagnosis related to severe Neutropenia, Anemia and Thrombocytopenia that was reflected in the laboratory tests. 24 hours later, they gave us a diagnosis that no parent wants to hear, and that Ignacio had to start chemotherapy treatment as soon as possible in order to stabilize him. Subsequently, he underwent a high-risk surgery to have a Central Venous Catheter (Port 9 Catheter) placed, which was inserted into a vein in the chest that goes to the right side of the heart, and is used for the administration of the drugs corresponding to chemotherapy and the taking of blood samples, since we have a 2-year course of treatment and in this way the taking and damage of the peripheral pathways (arms and legs) are avoided.

Ignacio is known as a happy child with great attitude that helped him overcome this difficult first stage of the disease successfully, always with a smile!

Now, we have 22 months of chemotherapy left, and unfortunately the medications in Venezuela are very costly, which is why we resorted to requesting this help. Ignacio has a father and a mother who will fight for him until the end, but above all he has his younger sister and best friend Amanda (2 years old), who is looking forward to her older brother being cured so they can continue growing together and creating the best memories.

Ignacio has currently been hospitalized since Wednesday, February 26, due to a strong decompensation in blood values ​​after the new cycle of Chemotherapy, adding that he began to experience intestinal bleeding. They began to stabilize him with transfusions and medications, but in the early hours of Sunday, March 2, Ignacio presented with respiratory failure and seizure episodes, so we must complete more testing to see if there is a hemorrhage in the part of the skull and admit him to intensive care (ICU), so that he can be intubated.
