LOVE needs no translation- CORY BALDY
Donation protected
Cory went in for knee surgery early last week. Which was successful. A clot was released (brain artery) which resulted in another immediate surgery. He only had 1/3 blood flow to his brain. Which once again, another emergency surgery to remove part of his skull to relieve pressure. Cory was put in medically induced coma to have the hopes of the pressure to go down. The part of his skull is being stored in his abdomen to preserve and reduce infection. Once the pressure is lowered, they are able to surgically reattach it.
As recent, he is able to open his eyes. His right side is paralyzed due to the damage to the left side of the brain. Cory can not communicate words, unable to speak, read, write or answer to commands. He does have recognition of faces. Cory's mother Theresia, sister Amanda and his brother Curtis are in Taiwan currently. Along with them at his bedside, is his fiance Michelle. He does respond to all of them with a squeeze to their hand or by raising his eyebrows.
Cory is a fighter, anyone who is blessed to know him, can agree. This fighter has a tremendous amount of recovery to do and one heck of a fight he needs to continue. This page is set up to graciously ask for any support you can provide, any messages you want relayed, and to keep you all updated.
Unfortunately we do not have the final severity outcome. He will need ongoing medical care, possibly up to 2 years. Obviously he will not be working nor his fiancee Michelle. The medical bills and care are going to be a heavy burden. As Cory resides in Taiwan, he does not have the kind of support he would have here in Saskatchewan. There are facilities in Taipei that have stimulation therapy for stroke patients. Every avenue is being carefully sought out while his family is there.
Michelle and Cory's family are grateful for all the love and support that is pouring in....please keep Cory in your thoughts, especially over the holidays....and enjoy a Guinness or 2.
