A special friend, who would do anything for anyone, has had multiple health issues for most of his adult life. He has been an insulin dependent diabetic since the age of 30 and only getting worse as he gets older. In 2015, he was taken to the emergency room in January, February, March and April with complications related to his diabetes. In February, they had to do a spinal tap because he did not know who he was, didn't know the kid's names and did not recognize his wife in the hospital. In April, he stepped on a nail but could not feel it in his foot because of the neuropathy in his feet. He didn't realize their was a nail in his foot until he saw blood on his sock after taking off his shoes. He almost lost his leg! In addition, he had skin cancer on his face as you might see in the photo included. Three years ago he also contracted the herpes virus in his eye. The doctors tried everything but to no avail. They couldn't even do a corneal transplant because as a diabetic they thought it would be too risky. You would think that was enough, but, on top of all of this he is bipolar and and has several trips to the hospital for mental health issues. Two weeks ago he contracted gangrene in his foot and had to have some of his foot surgerically amputated. In the last week he received devasting news that his better eye is progressively getting worse and his chances of going blind are imminent. He is depressed now. He can't believe bad stuff keeps happening to him. He is so afraid of losing his independence to drive and take care of himself. He is afraid he will not see his children get married and will never see his future grandchildren. How much more can he take? He has not had a break from medical problems for the last 20 years!
As a result, he has not been able to work for many years (over 20) and the family is on the verge of losing their home. They had to remortgage their home to help the kids pay for some of their college expenses. His wife had to retire from her teaching job to take care of her husband. They are in need of assistance because they are on a fixed income due to his many medical issues.
Please consider helping them save their home by taking some of the burden off of their children. This family has never asked for money in the past but could use your help now.
