We weren't sure if we should do this or how to feel about asking, but in the end, anything helps. On Wednesday August 14th our sweet Pepper girl was hit by a car. The woman who hit her did stop and so did our sweet neighbor Jean Anne. Both came in to check on her. Lee and Ella brought Pepper to MedVet and were told that her femur was shattered and would need surgery. Thursday around 1pm pm Pepper had her surgery. It lasted 3 hours and was successful. Pepper had 6 shards of bone removed and a new rod and 4 screws are now holding her leg together. If you’ve ever met our sweet girl, you’ll know that she’s a gentle 140 lb giant. She needs attention 23 hrs out of every day. Her recovery has been a long and slow process. She has severe swelling in her limbs and her oxygen levels are low. Sweet baby is being feed thru a tube and has needed 2 blood transfusions. She needs the help of two nurses and a harness to lift and get her walking 3x a day. The goal is to bring her home as soon as she’s able to loose the swelling and put weight on her front legs. Pepper has her own corner in the ICU and round the clock love. Her care is roughly $600-$700 a day. Our family could use some help if you’re able.
