We are reaching out on behalf of my dear friend, Mabel Cortina Matos, who is going through one of life’s most heartbreaking losses. Her beloved husband, Samuel recently passed away after a courageous battle with glioblastoma, a relentless and aggressive form of brain cancer.
The loss of a husband, a father and a friend to many has deeply saddened us all.
Sam made sure his wife and daughters were covered with his unconditional love, his strength, his time, and his whole heart. He was their protector, their provider, and their greatest source of comfort. His passing has left an irreplaceable void in their lives.
From the day of his diagnosis, Mabel put her own life and career on hold to provide him with comfort, security, and love. She became his full-time caregiver and tireless advocate—fighting to ensure he received the best medical care and treatment available. She was his voice when he couldn’t speak for himself and his strength when he needed it most. Through every challenge, she never left his side—not for a moment.
He leaves behind not only his devoted wife but also two wonderful daughters who adored their father beyond words. Their loss is immeasurable—and as they begin to grieve and adjust to a life forever changed, they are also facing the reality of mounting expenses and no steady income.
This GoFundMe has been created to help ease the financial burden that comes in the wake of such tragedy. Funds will go toward funeral costs, medical bills, and essential living expenses for Mabel and the girls as they begin this incredibly difficult new chapter.
