Years ago I was shattered by the unnecessary death of my two rescue rabbits, Patch and Alice. I took them to our vet for a checkup - no serious issue, just me being a cautious pet parent. Maybe it seems odd to some that those two bunnies could lighten a heart and brighten a dark day, but they did. Those two got me through some rough days and I loved them unconditionally. The vet pumped both full of a toxic dose of antibiotics in error and they experienced a slow painful death. I was by their side as first Alice, then Patch died. To say I was shattered is a gross understatement. I blamed the vet, of course, but the guilt I carry for taking them to that vet in the first place is a burden I carry. I'll have to live with that.
Enter Bilbo. A little lop eared rabbit who had been neglected and forgotten after the new wore off. We adopted him at the rescue shelter four years ago and he's been our beacon of light ever since. But after a recent trip to examine some lumps under his chin, we learned that he will require an aggressive and costly treatment plan to remove several abscesses growing in and around his lower-left jaw.
We have our daughter, Alice and our new baby Leo, who need everything I bring home from my job. I just can't let Bilbo go without trying my best to save him and give him the best quality of life I can.
We are scheduled to consult with his doctor in the coming days to determine the details of his treatment plan. If we reach our goal of $3,000, then we can provide Bilbo with everything he needs to have a successful operation. But the clock is ticking and everyday that goes by is another day that his infection may spread if untreated.
We are truly grateful for anything you can do to help. And for anyone who donates $100 or more, we would be happy to mail you a signed copy of my band's latest album on CD with a personalized thank you letter for your generosity. Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story. And thank you for helping our beloved Bilbo.
