Jamie is a disability support worker, who has been in the disability industry for 13 years. Jamie is an incredibly compassionate person, who always puts others first.
Recently Jamie returned from maternity leave to work with clients who have complex disability. Jamie has a 7 month old baby at home and is the sole income for her family.
One month into returning from maternity leave, working with a new client Jamie was brutally attacked. Jamie now cannot work either of her two jobs, look after her daughter, complete house duties or look after herself. This assault has left Jamie and her beautiful family struggling, physically, financially and mentally.
This Gofundme has been set up in the hope to relieve some burden while Jamie recovers from her physical and mental trauma.
Statement from Jamie about the attack:
The attack went for about 30 minutes before I was able to get free. I honestly thought I was going to die. I have a lot of physical injuries and really horrible mental trauma.
My physical injuries include:
- 17 different bites, many that required stitches. Bites to: both hands, both arms, face, torso, chest, head an fingers/thumbs.
- Black eye
- Deep bruising to ankles, head, face, arms, handstorso
- Middle left finger required nail off and clean out as it had a hole in it from a tooth.
- I lost 1/4 of my left thumb. It was bitten off, flesh and some bone. Thumb was eaten so couldn’t be reattached, surgery was done to cover rest of the thumb.
- left foot was broken
- both ankles have sprains and bad bruising
- chunks of hair pulled out
-psychological trauma
-severe neck pain
- about 8-10 lumps on my head from having my head smashed repeatedly on the floor
-mental trauma (nightmares, anxiety, replaying incident, sleeping issues, fear)
-knocked unconscious twice
-passed out from pain once
This was the most scariest this I have ever gone through in my life. I was thinking of my family and the fact that I didn’t get to say a proper goodbye. But I am lucky to have gotten away, been helped by police, doctors and wonderful nurses. Now I am home with my family. I'm not one to agree to accept help but with no income and being unable to physically look after my daughter I am learning I will need to accept it. Thank you to anyone who donates to help us through these troubling times.
