Hello, my friends. On May 11, 2023, I suffered serious injuries when I fell down the stairs at the Greek Theatre. Basically, my face broke my fall. I fractured my nose and upper jaw, lacerated my face and nose, received a concussion, whiplash to my neck, and an abrasion and contusion to my leg. Shortly after the accident, I had surgery to straighten my septum, but I will need another surgery later this year to correct the other damage that was done, which includes fractures to the upper nasal bones and revision of the septum. Currently, I can't breathe through the right side of my nose. Though the injury to my leg seemed relatively minor at the time of the accident, it developed into a major problem shortly thereafter. The wound and contusion became severely infected, requiring multiple trips to the ER and two hospitalizations, one lasting seven days, the other lasting five days. The leg is doing better, but I've had to have fluid drained from the abscess pocket. I'm also doing physical therapy for the issues with my neck.
All of my injuries have caused me to miss a lot of work over the past three and a half months, and I've exhausted all the sick and vacation time I had. I have gone without a paycheck for two months. Although some assistance came courtesy of another GoFundMe that was set up by a friend of mine, it did not cover all the expenses I have and I have fallen behind on many bills. Presently, I am in danger of losing my medical coverage, car insurance, phone and internet. I am also behind on my mortgage, homeowner's association, credit cards and Mistress Jingles' surgery bills. Despite talking to my creditors and making arrangements with them, the phone calls from them are relentless. It's exhausting, especially when I'm still trying to recuperate from my injuries. I am back at work now and trying to get back on track. I hate asking for help, but this has truly been one of the most difficult years I've ever experienced.
