The Lamar Family
Donation protected
I consider the Lamar's part of my "chosen" family. They are kind, caring and always there when you need them. Their incredible daughters are two of my daughter's closest friends. I frequently look back at my first encounters with them and am so thankful for the opportunity to call them friends. I am clearly the winner in this friendship, and I'm certain I am not the only person who feels this way about this incredible family.
Well, you may (or may not) be wondering why the call for action. Jon and Bethany have been dealt a difficult hand this year. They are facing one of the biggest challenges of their life, and at this time, need all of our help.
As some of you may know, Jon has been diagnosed with late stage gallbladder cancer, and the prognosis is less than stellar. At this time the doctors have given the "there's nothing more we can do" diagnosis. This is heartbreaking for everyone who knows Jon, but nothing compares to what the family is going through.
There are a few things we are asking for that could make this season of their life less stressful:
1. Cold hard cash. That's right, money. This will help pay the mounting medical bills, cover any additional expenses that pop up in life and give Bethany additional hands on the business so she can place her focus on the love of her life.
2. Prayers. As you all know, Bethany and Jon are devout Christians and the power of prayer is big in their family. Whether you are praying at bedtime, at church or just driving down the road, please keep their family in them.
3. Bethany and Jon have asked for privacy. We understand that with this kind of news, the need to reach out is strong. Please know that Bethany and Jon feel your love. What they need now is peace. If you have well wishes, loving thoughts or prayers, please send them through this GoFundMe page, or their Caring Bridge account: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/jonlamar
This also means, unless you have been granted permission, please don't show up to their door. Please don't provide food or flowers unless Bethany has specifically asked for this. And if you text or call, know that Bethany is BUSY. She is busy with their business, she is busy with Jon and she is busy with the girls. You may not hear back from her very quickly, or at all. And that is okay. She is tending to what is most important to her and we should all respect that.
The Lamars deserve everything good in this world. Let's show them the power of the love they show every day to each and everyone of us.
