On December 10th Savannah was playing her heart out on the basketball court when she fell and injured her left shoulder. Dr. Louwagie was at the game and observed additional symptoms; droopy eye, shoulder pain and cough. The next day Savannah was diagnosed with Horner’s Syndrome and a CT scan was ordered. The CT scan revealed a mass in her upper chest and over her left shoulder. Following a biopsy, Savannah was diagnosed with Diffused Large B Cell Lymphoma on Christmas Eve. She was admitted to Sanford Children’s Hospital where additional tests were ordered. It was determined Savannah’s specific lymphoma is Primary Mediastinal B-Cell Lymphoma. Savannah will undergo 6 rounds of inpatient chemotherapy at Sandford Children’s Hospital in Sioux Falls. She has successfully completed the first round and will be returning for round 2 on January 20th. Savannah is such a sweet, strong and courageous young lady – we are all amazed at her positive attitude along this journey.
