Hi everyone my name is Alex, I’m creating this to help one of my close friends Milena, who recently married someone living in Jamaica. Her husband Errol and family are suffering drastically from hurricane Melissa, a Cat 5 hurricane (the biggest hurricane the Caribbean has seen since 1935). Hurricane Melissa took everything from those in Jamaica damaging everyone’s homes, shops and the beautiful country they have. Resulting in them losing everything. For those who don’t know hurricane Melissa took the lives of many due to the wind speed that were over 330 km per hour along with severe flooding. I received this message from her.-
“I finally heard from my husband! He’s okay, thank God, just a sprained ankle. But he’s really struggling. He said people are fighting for food, and it feels like an apocalypse has happened. He hasn’t eaten in two days and has lost everything.
He told me that about 95% of the people in his parish are now homeless. My heart is absolutely broken seeing him go through this. He just kept saying he’s doing everything he can to stay calm. Then, while we were talking, someone stole something nearby, and he had to go because the person was going to get a gun.
He doesn’t know when he’ll be able to call me again, he used the last of the gas in his bike to get to town, just to use the Wi-Fi and contact me.
I’ll be going down in three weeks, and I’m planning to take out cash here, pack my suitcase with food and clothes, and try to help him rebuild his home.
If you have any suggestions or know of any ways I could find more help or support to send to him, please let me know. And thank you so much for checking in on both of us, it really means a lot. ❤️”
Please if you are able to help and share this to allow Milena to bring some essential like clothes, food, toliet trees, and other supplies to help support her family and loved ones, but also others in Jamaica when she goes to see them in 3 weeks. People are fighting for survival let’s do what we can to help those living this nightmare.
