Into the Mystic is an upcoming short social-realist coming-of-age drama that follows a brother (Robbie), a sister (Rio), and a “friend” (Hannah) as they run away from their homes on stolen push bikes. The film will examine Robbie and Rio’s relationship as they begin to understand each other as siblings as well as figuring out their own self-interests and desires. Whilst Hannah fights for a love she will never earn.

Robbie

A young man in his early twenties, desperate to escape the past and avoid thinking about the future. Despite his charisma, humour and love for his sister, Robbie’s ego and carelessness often causes problems.

Rio

Recently turned sixteen, Rio looks up to her brother, and they share many traits. She’s brash and strong-minded but finds time to reflect on her actions, especially when surrounded by nature, and often wonders what the future holds for her.

Hannah

Intelligent and compassionate, Hannah embodies many stereotypical motherly attitudes. After being in a one sided relationship with Robbie for months, conflict arises between her strong sense of self-worth, and the affection and gratitude she craves.
