Let's Get Cainaan A Bed

This is Cainaan. He is 9 years old and has multiple disabilities including microcephaly, global developmental delays, pica, ADHD, autistic characteristics, and behavioral disturbances.  He has had sleeping issues for several years now.  It is hard for him to get to sleep and even harder for him to stay asleep. This is affecting not only his but his mom’s daily life. Although this little guy has multiple obstacles that he faces every day, he is very smart. He knows how to unlock and open windows and doors and looks for ways to get out of the house. He is sleeping with his mom right now and has for several years. She has to keep the bedroom door locked because Cainaan gets up all night long and wanders the house, putting things in his mouth, making it impossible to get any rest. He needs a bed that will not only keep him safe at night, but also give his mom peace of mind that her baby boy is taken care of. Cainaan’s mom has tried several different sleeping arrangements including an autistic tent bed that he chewed thru in 15 minutes, and a crib bed that he climbed right out of.  He has chewed thru 3 mattresses down to the springs. Cainaan has been denied a bed through insurance 4 times. What they aren’t  understanding is that Cainaan doesn’t comprehend danger and how bad he could get hurt.  I have provided pictures of the bed that would best suit this little man’s needs. The cost for special needs equipment is outrageous and almost impossible to purchase out of pocket. This bed is $24,000.00 but the company said if we buy it out right they will take 40% off making the bed $14,400.00 before taxes.  Let’s help take at least one of the stressors off of this little boy and his mama. Sleep is vital to all of us, but especially when all your energy is expelled through the day taking care of this very busy little boy.
