Hello Everyone! My name is Quenessa (Q) Long. I attending Pacific Lutheran University on a Full Tuition Act Six Scholarship and graduated in 2018. At Pacific Lutheran University I double majored in Anthropology and Political Science. While on campus I participated In many extra-curricular activities including joining the Associative Student Body of PLU, serving as the Diversity Director.
After obtaining my BA, I started at my current place of employment which is the YWCA Pierce County. I serve as a legal advocate for survivors of domestic violence. More specifically, I support survivors of domestic violence in filling out and filing their family law paperwork. This has been really purposeful and fulfilling work that I am thankful that I participated within.
I am now moving onto my next steps and that is attending Howard University School of Law. I am so very thankful to have received admissions into many other great law school such as Seattle University, Loyola Chicago, New England Law Boston, and CUNY. I decided on Howard because I knew that it would be the university to best prepare me for the work that I intended to do in the future.
I am not exactly set on the sort of law I want to practice but I do hope to do something in the civil rights, public interest, or criminal law fields!!
In order to make my dream of moving to Washington D.C happen, I need your help! It is expensive to transition and the moving costs are really adding up which is why I am reaching out for support.
Many of you know that this has been a long journey for me. I have been homeless, in situations of domestic violence, grew up with an incarcerated father, and have faced many more barriers. Thankfully for me God, Family, and my Ancestors have been with me each step of the way guiding me through life. I know that the path that is set for me is a righteous and purposeful one. I am grateful for each experience I have had and look forward to the ways that I can continue to be invested in, and to see how I can use such an investment to support and build with my community.
Thank you so much for sharing, commenting, and/or donating!!!!
