Brenda's Battle

Hey there,

My Name is Deirdre Hansen, and I am a postpartum nurse at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton Alberta.

On the postpartum units, we spend our days helping families bring new little lives into this world with love and compassion.

Recently one of our own nurses, Brenda Lachance was given some devistating news.

Over the last few months, Brenda would show up to work with agonizing abdominal pain, and still have the ability to walk into a patients room with a smile on her face, and help them have the best experience possible.

On Monday, after an abdominal scan, Brenda found out that she has multiple lesions (tumours) on multiple organs, and will now wait to find out treatment plans and options.

Brenda has been the sole provider in her house, as her husband Jim was in a horrible car accident, which was followed by a stroke, that left him unable to work.

Our hope with this fundraiser is that we can help provide Brenda and her husband Jim, with a cushion for all the day to day expenses while she starts the fight of her life.

We all know how impossible the cost of living has been feeling over the last few years, this makes it even more debilitating when your work was the only income.

Any donation size (or messages of well wishes) are so overwhelmingly appreciated... the thing about nurses is that we live to look after other people, often times forgetting to ask for help for ourselves.
