Dexter's recovery fund

Our beautiful boy, Dexter was born on July 13,2012 perfectly healthy. On September 13th 2013, Dexter was already walking when he tripped and fell hitting his chin. That fall caused a spinal stroke and he became paralyzed from the neck down. Our nightmare did not end there. After a few days in the ICU, he had a seizure that stopped his heart. Dexter went into a cardiac arrest and suffered anoxic brain injury. He was in a coma for a day and during that time doctors were not optimistic. They told us that even if Dexter will wake up he might be in a vegetative state. He will never breath on his own, never talk, walk or even know who we are. The doctors decided then to put Dexter on an ventilator, to help him breath. When eventually he woke up every one was in shock that he woke up so soon. At that moment our lives changed and Dexter’s fight to recover had began.
During the first year of his recovery, Dexter spend 6 months in a rehabilitation hospital where he begun his therapy. After just 3 months, he started to breath on his own and we were able to remove the trach. He started to have sensation in his feet and hands and started to move them slowly. Finally it was time for our boy to come home.
Everyday is a challenge for Dexter as well as it is for us but as his parents we will do everything in our power to give him the best possible outcome he can have and for that we are asking for your help. Dexter is continuing to make progress and with the right therapies and equipment, he’s reaching impossible goals. The therapies that Dexter requires are aquatic therapy, horse, dolphin and therasuit and unfortunately those therapies are not covered by our isurance. Without the right therapies and equipment, Dexter does not have a good chance in recovery, so please no donation is too small, every penny counts. Help us, help our boy on the way to his recovery and let him reach his star.
Thank you all for your donations. We appreciate all of them.
