Hi, my name is Yolanda and I'm fundraising for my husband, Ruben.

On Friday, October 6th, at 3 am, I found my husband, Ruben, in the bathroom after he had taken a hard fall that woke me from my sleep. I called out to him from our bed, but he was unresponsive. When I made it to the bathroom, he was sweaty and having seizures. He went in and out of consciousness, vomited blood, and then passed out again. 911 was called, and Ruben was rushed to Gulf Coast Medical Center for further treatment, tests, and labs. The doctors determined that Ruben had an ulcer with a ruptured vessel causing internal bleeding, likely due to his gastric bypass surgery on September 14th, 2020. The doctors at GCMC performed a temporary fix, but this is Ruben's third time being hospitalized for internal bleeding, and it's the first time they have located the source. Ruben now needs another surgery to correct the issue. In the meantime, we are asking our friends, family, and loved ones for help with the cost of surgery, medical bills, and other expenses. The surgery is scheduled for November 27th, 2023. Ruben will be in and out of work due to tests, labs, clearance for surgery, and his recovery. Our family would greatly appreciate your help.
