Vincent Daniels' Retinal Surgery

Hi. My name is Vincent Daniels. I am a diabetic who has been undergoing panretinal photocoagulation (PRP) treatments for retinal tearing for a few months now. Mainly caused by diabetes. My condition has worsened, however, and now I have a retinal detachment in my right eye and liquid is accumulating in the tear which is causing me to gradually lose eyesight in my right eye. My eye doctors of the Henry Ford Hospital Opthamology Dept have discussed with me that the only option left available is surgery. However, my employer-based health coverage will not cover for the procedure. I have applied to healthcare.gov for insurance. I'm eligible for coverage but I won't be able to enroll until November because I don't fit in any of the conditions for Special Life Event Enrollment. I have also tried purchasing insurance from HAP and was given the same denial due to not qualifying for a Special Life Event. My doctor needs to initiate the surgical procedure before that time. It will be an outpatient procedure lasting approximately an hour and once done, will have me in recuperation for a couple of months. Right now, my chances for success are at 90%, but the longer it's delayed the more the chance of success erodes. So now I am looking to you for help. The procedure is going to be $7,000 to perform. Going without the procedure - according to what my doctors have told me - is not an option. The retinal detachment in my right eye will merely worsen over time until I completely lose eyesight in my right eye. After which time my left eye will begin to degrade (as eyes are sympathetic) until I go completely blind. Without proper eyesight I can't keep my job to provide for my family or pursue any of my pastimes. Please help if you can.
