Jen's Courageous Cancer Journey

Donation protected
On May 26, Jen & her husband Scott got the news that Jen had been diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer which had metastasized to the liver and right lung. This news had come as a shock because there had been no
history of cancer in her immediate family, and being only 44 years old, had no obvious risk factors. Nothing could have prepared Jen & her husband for that diagnosis.

If you have ever met Jen, you would know that much of her time is dedicated to her family and work and little time is spent on herself, always putting others first. Jen & Scott have three beautiful girls. Madeline (16),
Melanie (10) & Emily (7). Jen spends much of her time taking them to dance lessons, shows & competitions, swimming practice & attending swim meets, Girl Scout events and camps, and a wide variety of other things. All three girls are active in Girl Scouts and Jen is currently a Girl Scout Troop Leader for Madeline & Melanie’s troops. She has plans to attend 3 seperate Girl Scout camps, Two in August with Melanie & Emily and one in September with all 3 girls. She also has plans to take a Girl Scout cruise trip to the southern caribbean in January with Madeline as long as she is healthy. Jen also loves to get muddy with her whole family on 4 wheeling trips. Another one of Jen’s passions is cake decorating. She has been making and decorating cakes for her family for about 6 years.

Jen has worked at the St Cloud VA Hospital for the past 18 years providing meals to veterans. She is the head cook/kitchen manager and loves being able to help serve those who have done so much for our country.

On June 7th, Jen had surgery to remove the right ascending colon with the tumor and 31 lymph nodes. Five of which tested positive for cancer. She started her 1st round of chemo on July 12 and will continue indefinitely once every 2 weeks. After 4 treatments she will go down to the Mayo for a CT scan and MRI to find out if the cancer is shrinking and hopefully she will qualify for surgery on her liver and lung.

Jen & her family are trying to keep life as normal as possible. She has been off work for about 6 weeks and is hoping to go back on July 19. Her husband has been by her side every step of the way, attending all of her doctor’s visits. Anyone who knows someone who has dealt with cancer knows how physically, emotionally, and financially challenging this will be for Jen and her family. The cost of treatment, hospital stays, transportation, child care, groceries, bills and everyday expenses can, and quite possibly will become overwhelming to their family as Jen will need to take time off from work. Scott will also have to take time off from work to attend appointments and help care for Jen and the girls. Even with insurance there will be many large out-of-pocket expenses.

Jen is determined to fight and beat this cancer! She has many people praying for her and their family. By starting this go fund me page we hope that we can ease the burden of all the extra financial costs so they can
focus all their energy on getting better & beating this horrible disease.

Please help to support Jen and her family on this difficult journey. All donations are welcome and greatly appreciated! No amount is too big - or too small. Thank you for keeping Jen and her family in your thoughts and
prayers! Thank you for joining us in this fight with Jen against cancer!!!
