Mahisha Sri is a 1 year old female baby from the district of Pudukottai, Tamil Nadu. She was born on 13th April 2018 weighing 2.60 kg. She is the second child to the parents. Her brother is Mayilvan, 8 year old boy studying in Class III. The child’s father, Mr Senthil is a Farmer and earns Rs 48,000/- ($700) per year and mother Saritha is a housewife.
The child was born at N M Hospital, Thanjavur. The congenital heart defect was identified at first day of life, when the child developed breathing difficulty. The baby was referred to RK hospital, Thanjavur where Dr Mani Ram Krishna from Amrita Institute saw the baby . Echo was done. The diagnosis was Tetralogy of Fallot. She requires open heart surgery to cure the defect . The family was asked to wait for some time.
The parents were in continuous follow up. They were advised surgery in early August. The total cost of surgery is Rs 204,000/- ( $2,940 ). Parents have been able to arrange Rs 44,000/- ($650). Rs 160,000/- ($2,350 ) is required for the surgery.
