Netsilik School Exchange Trip

Donation protected
We are Netsilik School located in beautiful Taloyoak, Nunavut on the Boothia Peninsula. Taloyoak is Canada's most northerly mainland community! Every few years we send a group of students on an exchange trip with a southern school before they graduate from grade 12. This year the students will participate in an exchange with students from Guelph Collegiate in Ontario. Exchanges are wonderful experiences for students from different parts of Canada to learn about each other's language, history, culture, and socio-economic backgrounds. The travel to and from each community and accommodations along the way are covered by Experiences Canada  (previously know as SEVEC), but the students and teachers are working hard to raise funds for the events and activities they will put on for our guests from Guelph when they come to Taloyoak in May 2016. We want to take them on the land so they can see and experience life in the North: camping, hunting and fishing, viewing wildlife, igloo building and so much more! We have been holding fundraising events such as movie nights, carnivale, food sales, etc. to raise money for gas, food, and guides, but fundraising can be a very challenging  and daunting effort in a small, isolated community such as ours. We are home to about 1000 people and prices are 4 times what people would normally pay in the South. We would appreciate any help you can give us so we can ensure our guests from Guelph have the best possible experience in Taloyoak and create memories they will cherish for the rest of their lives. Thank you!
